New Metro Rule Book~ Missing Paris Day

The RATP, (the Regie Autonome des Transports Parisiens)
has come out with a new metro rule book,
informing travelers on how to behave.

'An Etiquette Manual for the Modern Traveller.'

Twelve new commandments
in 4 categories:
courtesy, helpfulness, manners and politeness.

The rules run from keeping music low
to observing the No Smoking signs
to reaching for the bottom of the pole
on hot summer days
(keeping one's armpits to one's self)!
No staring, help others
and hold the door for those behind you.

Click here to see the article in TheLocal.fr
or to click on the actual manual
which you can read in French.

  1. I love the French, as I know you do Kirsten. I used to not understand people (who I still encounter to this day) that know I am a French teacher, love the French and KNOW French people) but who still say to me, "I don't like the French, they are rude."

I believe that the French try to keep a standard of courtesy and decorum, unlike many people I know! And for that, they should be respected like anyone else..I mean, I was smitten once again with them when I was in Paris and heard several radio advertisements for MacDo....."Don't eat to much at MacDo, just once a week, and remember to stay fit by doing exercise daily, etc...." Now isn't that the coolest thing?

Bravo for these new rules. I wish we had more of these posted in the USA! And thank you dear one for coming to visit. I hope you are warm where you are! Anita
