Happy Spring All!
I've been having fun making Book Bentos on Instagram.
Just finished Chris Scofield's book The Shark Curtain
and created this picture using a few symbols from the novel.
While the book is considered a YA novel,
it's not just for YA readers
dealing with plenty of grown up issues.
But once you're inside Lily Asher's 14 year old head,
in 1960's Portland, Oregon,
it's hard to see the world 'normally' again.
But in a good way.
Check it out if you're looking for something
fresh, creative, unique and edgy.
And in the meantime,
enjoy the early days of spring
with a cup of tea and a good book!

Never heard of a book bento Kirsten, but I love yours'. Hope spring has sprung in your area as it is in all its glory here.
ReplyDeleteI always love a good book review! And I love the bento -- that's very cool!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite novels bento-ed by my favorite bookbento-er. You're an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteDonna, I just found them on Instagram awhile back and love making them. Only done a few but hope to do more. Just fun and gives the writer a little extra audience. Definitely spring here. Hope it still is there. Hearing about snow on the East Coast today. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteJeanie, Glad you liked. Not a full book review but does give a few tiny hints. Happy spring to you!
ReplyDeleteThanks Val! Hope to do yours too when I can figure out how to do it with a picture of an ebook. Beautiful job co-editing Chris' book. Big hugs to you! Xoxo
ReplyDeleteThis is a cool photo, Kirsten. Now, I'm curious about the book. It sounds interesting. : )
ReplyDelete~Sheri
Thanks Sheri! And it's a great book!
DeleteHow are people putting these bentos together. I keep looking for tutorials but haven't found any. I love the way they look and would like to make them with my students, but we do not have access to instagram, so wondering if there is another app that people do these on?
ReplyDeleteNo app! If you have access to Facebook, just search #bookbento and then click on See All and you'll get lots of ideas. You do your own art direction and styling with anything you want to use and then take a photo above it. Have fun!
DeleteThe ones that I have seen so far all look so professionally done with the objects that I could have sworn there would be an app with images to pull up. Interesting. I will check out the ones on Facebook. Thinking I might have to have students do collage as I am not sure if they will find all the objects that they might need...but maybe they will. Appreciate the reply.
